Frequently Asked Questions for 1911 Kits (View Glock Faqs)

I have a model XYZ 1911 pistol. Will your conversion kit fit it?
Our 1911 conversion kit is made to fit any Full Size 1911-A1 frame, series 70 or 80, made to Military Specifications. If your gun is not made to military specifications then some fitting maybe required.

Will the conversion magazine work with my extended mag well?
Yes.

Are you going to offer High Cap Magazines if the AWB sunsets this September?
NO. High cap magazines will still be illegal to manufacture or sell in California, which is where our factory is located.

Can I Dry Fire my conversion kit?
NO. Dry firing your 1911 Concersion Kit will damage the firing pin and barrel. DO NOT DRY FIRE.

Does the slide remain open after the last round has been fired?
Yes, depending upon the design of the slide stop lever. There are many different slide stop designs, most will work with our kit and lock the slide open when the last round has been fired.

If I need to send my kit in for service, what should I send with it?
Send the ENTIRE kit along with any extra magazines. Provide a brief description of the problem along with your return address INSIDE the package. No P.O. Boxes

I lost my instructions can you send me a replacement?
If you have Adobe Acrobat reader installed on your computer you can download the manuals here: 1911 Target 1911 Standard

Do I need to lubricate my conversion kit.
Yes. We recommend that you put a drop of oil on each of the slide rails and one drop on the steel surface that makes contact with the hammer.

What type of ammo is recommended?
The conversion kit works best with 40 grain High Velocity ammo. We recommend Remington Golden Bullets as an inexpensive plinking ammo and CCI MiniMags if you're looking for a little better reliability and accuracy.

Can I use Standard Velocity ammo in my conversion kit?
Not in the Standard Kit. SV ammo may be used in the Target Kit when using the optional reduced power recoil spring.

Is there any ammo that you do not recommend?
Yes. We do not recommend Stingers or other Hyper velocity ammo. Also, the kits do not function very well with Federal or PMC ammo.

Several of my friends and I would like to purchase the Advantage Arms conversion kit. Can we get a Group Purchase Discount?
No. We only offer discounts to Dealers that have a current Federal Firearms License on file with our company.

What type of accuracy can I expect from my conversion kit?
You should get 2 inch or better groups at 25 yards with the 1911-22S Standard Kit. The average group for the 1911-22T Target Kit is 1.6 inch at 50 yards, using inexpensive ammo. Quality, standard velocity target ammo like Eley 10X can produce 1 inch groups when used with the optional reduced power recoil spring.

I live outside of the United States, can I purchase one of your conversion kits directly from your company?
No. We do not export.
